ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO Law

ELSA Moot Court Competition (EMC2) is a simulated hearing of the World Trade Organisation dispute settlement system. Teams prepare and analyze a fictive case and present their arguments both for the complainant and the respondent in front of a Panel which consists of WTO and trade law experts.The aim of the competition is to enhance knowledge of international trade law and WTO dispute settlement procedures.To enhance capacity for meaningful engagement in multilateral trade in the long term.

There are five regional elimination rounds. They are taking place all over the world: American Round, the Asia Pacific Round, two European Rounds and an African Round. Best 20 teams from all over the world qualify to participate in the Final Oral Round, which takes place in Geneva, Switzerland.

The European Law Students' Association is an international, independent, non-political, non-profit organisation run by and for law students. ELSA-activities comprise a large variety of academic and professional events that are organised to fulfill the vision of ELSA and in order to provide its members opportunities to enhance their skills and to interact with each other.

The University of Latvia first participated in the moot in 2016.
