
Gunārs Kusiņš, long-standing lecturer at the University of Latvia Faculty of Law, former judge of the Constitutional Court, and former head of the Legal Bureau of the Saeima, has been awarded the 1st Class Badge of Honour of the Justice System for his outstanding lifetime contribution to the development of the justice system, as well as for strengthening democracy and the rule of law in Latvia and globally.
On April 9, 2025, the Council for Awards of the Justice System held a session and decided to grant the Badge of Honour to 38 distinguished professionals, experts, and civil servants, as well as individuals whose work and civic engagement have made a significant impact on the development of Latvia’s justice system and the promotion of democracy and the rule of law.
The official award ceremony for the Justice System Badge of Honour will take place on May 7, 2025, at the Latvian National Museum of History.
The University of Latvia Faculty of Law congratulates Gunārs Kusiņš on receiving this high honour and wishes him continued success in inspiring others with his knowledge, experience, and contributions to the strengthening of justice!
