The Faculty of Law at the University of Latvia has signed a cooperation agreement with the company Lexu AI, which has developed an artificial intelligence-based legal research platform for court decision analysis. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in promoting the integration of modern technologies into legal research.

Court decision analysis is a fundamental part of both academic and practical research at the Faculty of Law—it helps identify real-world legal issues and develop scientifically grounded proposals for improving the legal system. The new AI-powered legal research platform significantly enhances access to necessary information and increases research efficiency.

“The court decision research platform developed by Lexu AI offers new opportunities for fast and efficient analysis of Latvian court rulings. Quick and reliable case law selection is a daily task for researchers, judges, attorneys, and other legal professionals. We are pleased to begin this cooperation and look forward to new opportunities for the development of legal science. Today, we are developing what tomorrow will become a standard in court decision research,” emphasizes Associate Professor Edvīns Danovskis, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Latvia.

Starting next academic year, the University of Latvia will incorporate lessons on the use of artificial intelligence in legal research into its study programs. As part of this, Lexu AI co-founder and CEO Mārtiņš Odobērs will deliver two lectures in each of the Faculty’s study programs, introducing students to the opportunities and challenges of using AI in the legal field.

The partnership with LEXU AI provides the Faculty’s academic staff with access to a modern tool and the opportunity to contribute to its future development. This initiative strengthens the University of Latvia’s role as a leading institution in legal education and research in Latvia, while also inspiring broader use of technology in legal science.
