On 9 December, the Vice President for Global Engagement of Hitotsubashi University (Japan), Professor Albertus Jiro Rei Yashiki, visited the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia (LU). During the meeting, LU Faculty of Law Dean Edvīns Danovskis and Vice Dean for Research Vadims Mantrovs discussed possible directions for cooperation between the two institutions.

The conversation focused on the potential development of a student exchange programme, as well as opportunities to strengthen academic collaboration in specific areas of legal studies. Professor Yashiki also expressed interest in delivering guest lectures to LU students in the future.

Hitotsubashi University is one of Japan’s leading social sciences universities, renowned for its excellence in business, economics, law, political science, and sociology. The meeting marks an initial step toward potential long-term cooperation between the institutions.
