The UL was represented by students Beatrise Kisiela, Elīza Madsena, Roberts Gusts, and Ieva Lāce, who simulated international arbitration proceedings and addressed complex issues of international commercial law.
This year’s case focused particularly on:
- The application of arbitration rules.
- Third-party funding.
- The impact of force majeure on contract performance.
- The conclusion of substitute transactions.
Participation in the moot provided the team with significant experience, developing both theoretical knowledge in international law and practical skills in legal simulations. The students highlighted the opportunity to represent UL in an international environment and gain valuable professional experience.
The team expresses its gratitude to the UL Faculty of Law, as well as the following law firms for their support: Sorainen, Cobalt, Ellex Kļaviņš, Tegos, Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns
Special thanks go to the team's coaches—Artūrs Kazāks, Katrīna Bičevska, Ēriks Krēsliņš, and Andris Dimants—for their dedicated work in preparing the team.
Participation in the Lisbon Pre-Moot serves as a vital preparation phase for the Vis Moot finals, which will take place in Vienna, Austria, from March 27 to April 3, where the team will continue to represent the University of Latvia at the international level.
