Third Place for LU Faculty of Law Students at Telders Moot Court Friendly Rounds

The University of Latvia was represented by third-year students of the Bachelor’s study programme “Law”, Kristīne Prohorova and Mona Upeniece, as well as Marta Rozenberga, a third-year student of the Bachelor’s study programme “Pre-Trial Investigation”. The team was extensively prepared and coached by Māris Lejnieks, lecturer at the UL Faculty of Law.

During the competition, the Latvian team faced law students from Spain, Romania, France and Finland. In the overall ranking, based on the total number of points scored, the UL students were surpassed only by the teams from Germany and Italy, firmly securing a place among the top three.

The team also achieved excellent results in the individual rankings, with two Latvian participants placing among the ten best oralists:

• Marta Rozenberga achieved an impressive 5th place;
• Mona Upeniece ranked 10th.

Participation in the friendly rounds in Belgrade provided the team with invaluable experience, offering insight into the format of international moot court competitions and an opportunity to observe the skills and approaches of teams from other countries. Particularly valuable was the opportunity to receive individual feedback and recognition from judges who had travelled to Belgrade from around the world.

The feedback and inspiration gained from the competition provide additional motivation for the team to continue intensive preparations in order to represent Latvia at its best in the official Telders Moot Court Competition in The Hague at the beginning of June.
