Latvijas Universitātes Juridiskās fakultātes akadēmiskā saime šajās dienās domās un cerībās ir kopā ar Ukrainu – visiem mūsu draugiem, sadarbības partneriem, kolēģiem un domubiedriem.
Ir noticis kaut kas neiedomājams un cilvēka prātam neaptverams. Krievijas ciniskā un brutālā rīcība pret Ukrainu un tās tautu nevienu nav atstājusi vienaldzīgu.
Krievijas iebrukums Ukrainā ar sauszemes, gaisa un jūras spēkiem ir agresijas akts, kuram nav attaisnojuma. Krievija veikusi klaju ANO Statūtu 2.pantā 4.daļā noteiktā spēka lietošanas aizlieguma pārkāpumu. Krievijas realizētā agresija ir starptautisks noziegums, par kuru Krievijas augstākās amatpersonas būtu saucamas pie atbildības gan nacionālajā, gan starptautiskajā līmenī.
Kā juristi mēs vienmēr atceramies, ka arī kara laikā likumi neklusē un taisnīgums uzvar vienmēr. Lai cik dažkārt tas šķistu neiespējami, nekad nedrīkst zaudēt ticību un cerību.
Mūsu vēsturiskā pieredze Baltijā to apstiprina, un mēs jūs saprotam vislabāk.
Mēs nekad neatzīsim Ukrainas suverenitātes un teritoriālas integritates aizskārumu.
Mēs vienmēr būsim par pašas Ukrainas tautas tiesībām brīvi un godīgi lemt par savu un savu bērnu bērnu nākotni.
Mēs godinām Ukrainas varoņus un apbrīnojam tautas drosmi un garaspēku.
Mēs esam kopā ar Jums un vienmēr paliksim Jūsu sabiedrotie.

In these days, the academic community of the Faculty of Law, the University of Latvia, in its thoughts and hopes is with Ukraine – with all our friends, partners of cooperation, colleagues, and peers.
Something unimaginable and incomprehensible for human mind has happened. Russia’s cynical and brutal actions against Ukraine and its people has left no one indifferent.
Russia’s invasions into Ukraine by air, land and maritime forces is an act of unjustifiable aggression. Russia has blatantly violated the prohibition to use force set out in Para 4 of Article 2 of the Charter of the United Nations. The aggression implemented by Russia is an international crime for which the highest ranking officials of Russia should be made liable both on the national and international level.
As lawyers, we always remember that laws are not silent even in times of war and justice always wins. Although it might sometimes seem impossible, one should never lose faith and hope.
Our historical experience in the Baltic region confirms this, and we understand you the best.
We shall never recognise the infringement on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
We shall always stand for the right of the Ukrainian people to decide, freely and honestly, their own future and the future of their children.
We honour the heroes of Ukraine and admire the courage and spiritual power of your people.
We are together with you and shall remain your allies for ever.
